Triggers & priority rules
Last updated Jul 22, 2026
A trigger decides which products or conditions an offer applies to. UpsellEngine supports three targeting scopes, plus popup-specific triggers.
Targeting scopes
- All products — the offer is eligible across your catalog.
- Collection — the offer applies to products in a chosen collection.
- Specific product — the offer applies only to the products you name.
Priority rules
When more than one offer could apply to the same product or moment, UpsellEngine resolves it by specificity: a specific product rule takes priority over a collection rule, which takes priority over an all products rule. This lets you set a broad default and override it for particular products or collections.

Popup triggers
Popups add event triggers on top of targeting: add-to-cart, exit intent, time on page, scroll depth, and cart value, with frequency capping and page targeting. See Popups.
Note: If two equally-specific offers match, only one is shown per placement. Use A/B testing if you want to compare offers rather than run them at once.
